At our school, we have always prided ourselves on the strong relationships we build with our parents, working closely with you to support every child’s success.

Family engagement is a shared responsibility. Schools, community agencies, and organisations are committed to involving families in meaningful ways, while families play a vital role in actively supporting their children's learning and development.

We believe that effective family engagement strengthens learning across all the environments where children grow — at home, in nursery settings, at school, in after-school programs, and within the wider community.

Our aims are to:

Establish and foster positive relationships with parents, carers, and families.
Encourage and support family involvement in school life and in children’s learning.
Promote strong communication and effective dialogue between families and the school regarding each child’s progress and how it can be supported at home.
Serve as a key point of contact for families.
Lead on pastoral care and wellbeing.
Support smooth transitions between schools.

Welcome to our Family Engagement page.

You may know me, or have seen me around the school. My name is Mrs Louise Edwards and I am your Family Engagement Officer. I have worked in Glyn-Gaer Primary School since 2019 and have had many roles, but have to say, this is one I am particularly passionate about.

We have lots of things in place: various free courses, parental workshops and classroom-based family learning sessions. I am pleased to say that the response from our families to these events has been great taking part in our annual events such as the Reindeer Run and Bunny Bonanza to courses in Welsh and Numeracy for adults; we certainly have a wide range of events throughout the calendar.

We also work closely within the community and have been involved in many community projects such as our Community Memorial Garden and the Wheelbarrow in Bloom competition. Our local food bank and recycle and reuse centre work with our School Council and Eco Committee. We also value our partnership with the local church, St Catwg's and feel very fortunate to attend services such as Harvest and Christingle in this special place.

We have great links with our local councillor, who is also one of our school governor's Cllr. Hayden Pritchard, who was instrumental in helping us achieve the Heart of the Community Award.
